The Royal Opera House present Dumbworld’s first interactive web-based opera experience Fatal System Error as part of their 8bit series – eight newly commissioned, experimental experiences of digital opera, bringing together some of the most innovative contemporary artists.

Conceived by Dumbworld’s Artistic Directors – writer John McIlduff and composer Brian Irvine, alongside creative programmers Out of Tune Games and filmmaker and visual artist Conan McIvor, Fatal System Error examines our ability to engage with the digital space, weighed against the temptation of online distractions, through the last moments of an operatic A.I attempting to escape rapid deletion. The piece is performed by Alexandra Lowe – Spanish-born British soprano who is part of the prestigious Jette Parker Young Artists Programme 2020/21 – and members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
