SYNOPSIS
ALICE (50), terminally ill from lung cancer desperately wants to meet her son (MARK, 32), whom she gave up for adoption as a baby, before her death. Recognising him in a newspaper article, she visits his seaside town with her only companion, a Red Setter.
Mark’s career as a doctor has flourished to the detriment of his marriage. His wife (SOPHIE, 30) ultimately chose divorce over a husbandless marriage; however, she continues to be frustrated by his ongoing neglect of their son (CHARLIE, 6).
Alice’s quest for a meaningful encounter with Mark becomes increasingly regimented and without any success, she feels increasingly frustrated and alone.
By chance, Mark and Charlie happen upon Alice’s dog on a beach, which they subsequently return to her. On both seeing Charlie with the dog and meeting Alice, Mark begins to question his choices and decides to make steps to rebuild his family.
